Smooth Map Next-Gen for The Witcher 3 — 60/120 FPS Controller & Keyboard Panning
Smooths world map panning for controller and keyboard in The Witcher 3; available in 60 fps and 120 fps builds and compatible with Smooth GUI and Upscaled UI - Map.
- Smoother map panning for controller and keyboard
- Available 60 fps and 120 fps builds
- Built on Smooth GUI to match UI animation framerate
- Compatibility patch available for Upscaled UI - Map
Requirements: Strongly recommended to use alongside Smooth GUI; if using Upscaled UI - Map download the compatible build, and choose the 60 fps or 120 fps version that matches your display (install via a mod manager or extract to The Witcher 3/Mods).
Smooth Map (Next Gen) refines the world map panning experience in The Witcher 3, delivering noticeably smoother movement when using a controller or keyboard. Two builds are provided so you can match your display: a 60 fps version and a 120 fps version. The map edits are implemented on top of Smooth GUI so map frame updates stay in sync with UI animations, and a compatibility patch is available for users of Upscaled UI - Map. Installation is straightforward: choose the build that matches your refresh rate, install via your mod manager or extract the mod folder to The Witcher 3/Mods, and ensure this mod has higher load priority than Smooth GUI (and Upscaled UI - Map if used). Technical details: the map panning logic is contained in panel_worldmap.redswf; this mod increases the timer update frequency and proportionally reduces panning speed for keyboard and controller input to achieve smoother motion. A fully framerate-independent rewrite would be ideal, but the timer-based approach implemented here delivers a practical improvement with minimal changes. Feedback from players is appreciated to help refine the behavior.
