FDE & SDA: Spouse Dialogue and Compatibility Tweaks
Small Skyrim Special Edition tweaks that retrigger spouse lines by relationship rank, remove immersion-breaking dialogue, and improve compatibility with quest-edit and custom marriage mods.
- Spouse dialogue triggers when relationship rank reaches 4
- Replaces faction-based spouse checks for custom marriage compatibility
- Removes immersion-breaking companion lines (example: Lydia vs. vampires)
- Adjusts companion reactions to reflect quest-edit mods' outcomes
Requirements: Requires the FDE and SDA dialogue frameworks for Skyrim Special Edition.
This patch refines spouse and companion dialogue behavior for Skyrim Special Edition by adjusting how and when lines are triggered and by improving compatibility with other mods. Spouse dialogues are no longer gated by faction membership; they trigger once the relationship rank reaches 4, making them compatible with custom marriage systems. Several immersion-breaking lines have been removed or suppressed—for example, Lydia will no longer scorn vampires if you or she are a vampire. The mod also adapts reactions to reflect quest edits from other mods: if a character is kept alive or spared by a quest-altering mod, companions will respond accordingly (for instance, Serana will not mourn Storn if he is alive). These are intended as small, focused tweaks to make FDE/SDA dialogue behavior more logical and compatible in heavily-modded setups. Credits to the original FDE/SDA frameworks and contributors whose work this patch builds on.
