Night City is full of people V supposedly loves, but after their questlines finish you never see them again. NCLives gives them back to you — not just as a NPC puppet, but as someone who has a life, spends time with you, has opinions, and gets hungry.
This is the companion framework I originally developed for Jackie, rebuilt so it brings you SEVEN people to explore Night City with.
Call Panam, Judy, River, Kerry, Goro, Claire or Rogue out into the city. Have them follow you, talk to them, take them out to dinner.
Note: Jackie Welles has his own mod called JackieLives. Because his situation was... precarious and required some delicacy.
What it does
- 📞 Call them through V's phone or pick a name in the NCLives CET window — they walk in and follow you through the city, into fights, wherever you're going.
- 💬Actually talk to them. Walk up, look at them, press F. Branching conversations written per character: how they're holding up, what they're working on, what they don't want to talk about. Choices open into deeper branches; nobody has one canned greeting.
- 🍜 Take them to dinner. Offered the moment they arrive — no waiting period. Each person has their own three spots: Goro suggests Redwood Market, where he and V first sat down to eat; Judy's list starts with Lizzie's; Rogue won't go anywhere near her own bar. Pick one, a waypoint drops, you walk there together, they take a seat — and a seated small-talk tree opens. Rotating topics, so a second dinner isn't the first one again. Panam on the open road and Saul; Kerry on the stage, the label, and the kids in Tokyo he sends presents to instead of calling.
- 👋 Send them off properly. "Head home, Kerry — I got it from here." They say something, walk away, and go. They also head home on their own after a while; dinner resets that clock.
- 💾 Your save remembers who was with you. Load a save and the right person comes back.
- 👥 They won't walk past themselves. Claire tends the Afterlife bar; Rogue is there too. So if you get near a place a companion canonically spends time at they'll make an excuse and head off.
