Description
Tired of rolls/long dodge feeling like a committed train on rails? This mod lets you steer Geralt’s rolls while he’s already mid-animation. Start a roll/long dodge forward, then nudge left or right, and watch the roll curve toward your input in real time. It works with controller and keyboard, though the effect is naturally smoother with an analog stick since you get the full 360° range.
The mod only kicks in during combat roll/long dodge, leaves backsteps alone, and stays fully compatible with vanilla behavior outside of combat. It also cleanly disables itself during cutscenes and dialogs, so you’ll never see Geralt doing an accidental curveball mid-scene.
Three sliders let you dial in the feel: how far you can bend, how fast the bend responds, and how much stick input is needed before it kicks in. You can set it to subtle course corrections or wide arc rolls.
Main features
Max Angle How far you can deviate from the original roll direction. At 90° you can curve from forward to a full sideways roll. At 30° you get just a gentle nudge. Think of it as the steering lock on the roll — higher means tighter turns, lower means you’re mostly going straight with minor corrections.
Sensitivity How quickly the roll/long dodge responds to your input. High values make the roll snap toward your new direction almost instantly. Low values make it feel lazy, like Geralt is leaning into the turn gradually. On controller this is very noticeable. On keyboard the effect is subtler since keys deliver full input instantly — think of it more as a “curve speed” dial than a precision tool. Default 1.0 is a solid starting point for both.
Stick Threshold The deadzone. This is the minimum stick movement needed before the mod reacts. At 0.3 you need to move the stick at least 30% before the bending kicks in. Anything below that and the roll stays straight. This one is mainly for controller users, especially if your stick drifts or doesn’t rest perfectly centered. On keyboard this does nothing meaningful since keys are either fully pressed or not at all — you can leave it at default.

A note for keyboard players: This mod was designed primarily around analog stick input, but it works fine on keyboard too. The main difference is that keys give you 8 directions (the four directions and their diagonals) instead of a smooth 360° range. Max Angle is the parameter that’ll matter most to you — it lets you curve rolls toward a diagonal from your starting direction. Sensitivity has a smaller but still noticeable effect (it changes how fast the curve happens). Stick Threshold can be safely ignored on keyboard.
