Torch NG — Living Torch System for Skyrim SE/AE
Transforms Skyrim torches into dynamic, weather-aware items with shadows, fuel, dropped and thrown torches, and an optional Torchcraft progression system.
- Dynamic player torch shadows and optional NPC shadows
- Weather- and wind-reactive torch light with guttering and flutter
- Torch survival: wet, damp, spent torches, burn-down and ash
- Dropped and thrown lit torches that can ignite oil/gas and traps
- Optional Torchcraft mastery and in-game tuning via SKSE Menu Framework
Requirements: For Skyrim Special Edition/Anniversary Edition; SKSE Menu Framework enables in-game tuning and the mod supports Community Shaders and SKSE-ISL when installed.
Torch NG overhauls torches in Skyrim Special Edition and Anniversary Edition, turning them into believable, interactive tools rather than static light sources. Install as a clean visual upgrade for improved carried-torch lighting and dynamic shadows, or enable the full simulation to have weather, water, wind, fuel, oil, gas, and Torchcraft change how you use fire.
The mod adds runtime torch detection for replacers and many mod-added torches, player torch shadows and optional nearby NPC shadows, and support for Community Shaders and SKSE-ISL when present. Torch light reacts to wind, fog, weather and time of day, can flutter while sprinting, and high wind can gutter flames. Survival mechanics let rain, snow, swimming, harsh wind and shouts extinguish torches; torches burn down, become Damp or Spent, dry over time or near fires, and can leave ash instead of vanishing.
Dropped lit torches keep burning (but can burn out), and an advanced Torchcraft option unlocks Torch Throw so a lit torch can be slung from a bash. Dropped and thrown lit torches can ignite oil, gas and certain traps via the game's trap system. Visual and gameplay settings are tunable in-game with SKSE Menu Framework.
Beta notice: this is a solo-developed beta build—expect bugs and balance tuning. Compatibility conflicts are possible; community patches and detailed bug reports with logs are welcome and helpful.
