PlayStation Black Ops ports keep emblem editor; players recreate swastikas and other offensive images
Activision’s updated PlayStation ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 include the original emblem editor. Players have already used it to create swastikas, 9/11 imagery, and other provocative designs, highlighted in a July 10 tweet from influencer JakeSucky.
Amid recent corporate headlines, Activision released updated PlayStation ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and Black Ops 2 (2012). Priced at $40 and upscaled to 1080p, the releases are PlayStation-only and largely faithful to the originals. Fans noticed the emblem editor was preserved—a powerful custom-design tool built from primitive shapes, symbols, colors and layers. As influencer JakeSucky showed in a July 10 tweet, players have used it to recreate swastikas, depictions of 9/11, an image of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, a KKK member, and other offensive designs. Many were surprised the feature returned.
