Microsoft extends Windows 10 Extended Security Updates through October 2027
Microsoft has pushed the end date for Windows 10 Extended Security Updates to October 2027. Existing ESU subscribers will receive the extra year automatically and, if they paid, at no additional cost.
Microsoft has extended Windows 10’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) program until October 2027. The company announced in 2024 that mainstream support would end in October 2025, and ESU had been planned to run for one year after that (through October 2026). ESU, which delivers security patches after feature updates stop, has been available for a fee (reported as $30) or sometimes free. Windows Central noted the ESU page update; those already enrolled will get the additional year by default and, if they paid for ESU, they won’t be charged extra. The Steam Hardware & Software Survey still shows 24% of respondents using Windows 10 64-bit.
