Cyberpunk 2077 passes 40 million sales, CD Projekt hails the milestone
Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 40 million copies, a number CD Projekt says proves the studio's ability to create enduring, immersive games.
Cyberpunk 2077 has now sold over 40 million copies, a remarkable turnaround from its troubled 2020 launch. The PC version fared relatively well, but the console release was so problematic Sony removed it from the PlayStation Store. CD Projekt has since overhauled the game, and it now carries a “very positive” user rating on Steam. The studio posted a thank-you message on July 3, 2026, marking the milestone. “40 million copies sold shows the incredible, lasting strength of Cyberpunk 2077 and is a testament to what CD Projekt does best—creating high-quality, immersive stories that keep players returning for years,” co-CEO Michał Nowakowski said. “It's a great foundation for our upcoming projects in this universe, including the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime arriving this fall.”
