During an interview with GameSpot, Capcom explained that, because the other modern mainline Resident Evil games have one-word subtitles, this should apply to a remake of Code Veronica. Thus, the "Code" was dropped from the title, and going by that logic, it's likely any future mainline Resident Evil games will stick to this trend.
