Samsung reportedly preparing Micro‑OLED fab, mass production eyed for 2028
Insider reports suggest Samsung Display is moving toward ultra‑high brightness Micro‑OLED panels, but mass production won't arrive for several years.
Aside from devices like the Steam Frame, VR hasn't seen a major hardware shake‑up lately — but insider reports relayed by leaker SadlyItsBradley (Brad Lynch) suggest better displays could be coming. Lynch says Samsung Display has begun talks with equipment suppliers to build a fab for ultra‑high brightness Micro‑OLED panels, with equipment ordered this year, installation in 2027 and mass production starting in 2028. Earlier this year our Jacob Ridley tried Micro‑OLED in a Pimax headset (using a Sony panel) and found it impressive, preferring it to traditional QLED: slightly more glare but not distracting, with the usual OLED vibrancy and very clear image quality.
