Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, set out his vision for the games industry amid what he described as a “time of both crisis and opportunity.” Coming after the company let go of over 1,000 staff a few months ago, Epic revealed Unreal Engine 6, which includes generative AI model support intended to “reduce the tedious work” involved in making games. Sweeney said Epic plans to work with developers to build a massive, integrated “everythingverse” to rival the threat of Roblox — a new ecosystem he insisted will be “very different” from Roblox’s approach.
