Fellowship's huge Season 3 overhaul shifts the co-op RPG toward loot and builds
Season 3 is the game's biggest update, spread across five Steam posts, and refocuses Fellowship away from MMO-style busywork toward action-RPG loot and character builds.
The developers of co-op RPG Fellowship released Season 3 patch notes across five separate Steam posts, underlining how extensive the update is. Alongside numerous balance changes, Chief Rebel has pushed the game away from its MMO-inspired systems and toward a tighter action-RPG with meaningful loot and character builds — a change that met some early resistance. The team says Season 3 should be a turning point for the co-op dungeon experience, keeping the thrill of running dungeons with friends without MMO busywork. Community director Hamish Bode told PC Gamer that the old loot system encouraged players to grab best-in-slot gear and stop engaging with builds, so it was replaced with a system where “there’s always something cool that can happen.” The revised items aim to offer interesting choices and a real chase for upgrades as dungeon tiers get harder. Necklaces, for example, now carry random defensive bonuses for every hero, giving players a reason to keep checking for better gear.
