
Netflix reportedly developing live-action Persona with 21 Laps and Story Kitchen
Variety says Stranger Things producer 21 Laps and game-adaptation studio Story Kitchen are involved in a Netflix live-action Persona, with Christopher Monfette as showrunner and Sega's Toru Nakahara among the executive producers.
A Variety report says Atlus’s Persona series may be headed to Netflix as a live-action adaptation. Production is said to involve 21 Laps, the studio behind Stranger Things, and Story Kitchen, which has worked on game-to-film adaptations including Sonic the Hedgehog and is attached to forthcoming projects such as Tomb Raider, It Takes Two and Vampire Survivors. Christopher Monfette is reported as writer and showrunner; among seven executive producers is Sega’s Toru Nakahara, who executive produced the Sonic film trilogy. Persona 5 has been a major commercial success, selling 10.46 million copies as of August 2025, appearing across three console generations since its 2016 launch and spawning five spin-offs: Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5 Tactica, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, Persona 5: The Phantom X and Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. Remakes of Persona 3 and Persona 4 followed, and multiple animated adaptations exist for Persona 3, 4 and 5.
