Love and Deepspace Cancels Valko After Fan Backlash
Papergames has canceled the planned debut of Valko and will focus on the five existing love interests after intense fan backlash, including hostile deliveries to its offices and a loss of about one million Chinese social media followers.
Papergames has reversed course on Valko, a newly announced love interest for mobile action dating sim Love and Deepspace, after strong fan backlash that spilled into the real world. The studio posted on Instagram: "We recognize that we moved forward with the introduction of Valko before we were truly ready...we have decided to cancel both the launch and any further development of the new love interest. We also commit that no additional love interests will be introduced in future content plans." According to Gaming on Phone, angry players sent cow dung to Papergames' lockers and left white and yellow chrysanthemums, as well as glutinous rice and pomelo leaves. The outlet also reports the game lost roughly 1 million followers on Chinese social media since Valko's unveiling. One of the main complaints was that Papergames wasn't delivering new story content or developing characters.
