Oblivion Remastered still needs PC fixes as Switch 2 launch nears
Bethesda is bringing Oblivion Remastered to Switch 2 on August 11, but the PC version still has noticeable issues that could use attention. I wouldn’t hold my breath for a patch, but it would be welcome.
Bethesda announced Oblivion Remastered for Switch 2 on August 11 with a trailer featuring a live-action Adoring Fan that shows very little gameplay. After the remaster’s PC launch a couple of patches fixed things like wonky khajiit tails and the Dark Brotherhood’s lore-breaking door, but problems remain: hitching while roaming, strange dark lines across characters’ eyelids when they blink, and a host of other bugs catalogued on the UESP. Some original issues persist too, such as Brother Holger suddenly sounding like a different character despite other NPCs being revoiced — maybe lines like Tandilwe’s “Let me do that one again” were left in for the meme. With the Switch 2 version adding motion and touch support and including the full game on cartridge, it would be nice to see the PC build get comparable polish — especially for Steam Deck players — but right now a modded copy of the original still plays better.
