Valheim jumps to $30 at 1.0 launch, adds Deep North — ocean update not included
Valheim leaves early access on September 9. Price will rise from $20 to $30, and the update adds an ice-themed Deep North biome but not the planned ocean changes.
Just over five years after launching in early access, Valheim will reach 1.0 on September 9. Alongside the release Iron Gate will raise the game's price from $20 to $30 and add a new ice-themed Deep North biome. In a FAQ, the studio says: "We will continue to improve the game with bugfixes and quality of life stuff, though for exactly how long the game will continue to receive updates is currently too soon to say." It also notes: "Likewise, it is too soon to say whether or not there will be more content added to the game in the future—but as always, we will be sure to announce any news on our channels!" The FAQ rules out an ocean biome update for 1.0, a point that has frustrated many players on Reddit: "Hundreds of km on boat just for the ocean to have three things in it and being empty for the most part," one user wrote. 1.0 will add Steam achievements, which may require replaying tasks like killing Eikthyr. The Deep North will appear in current save files, though Iron Gate recommends starting a new game.
