Onimusha: Way of the Sword now launches September 4, potentially crowding Blood of Dawnwalker
Capcom has moved Onimusha: Way of the Sword up from September 25 to September 4, avoiding a late-September clash and nudging closer to GTA 6’s broader release window. The shift could complicate Rebel Wolves’ Blood of Dawnwalker.
Capcom has pushed the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword forward from September 25 to September 4. This is the second time in 2026 Capcom has moved a launch earlier—Pragmata was advanced at the last minute—and it has reshuffled the September slate. Previously Onimusha faced Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant on September 24; with the new date its most direct rival is Rebel Wolves’ debut action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker. Rebel Wolves is a Polish studio led by former CD Projekt developers. PC Gamer staff have been impressed by Onimusha: Morgan Park called it the best thing he saw at the 2025 Summer Game Fest and returned to it this year, and the recent demo drew a positive public response. Some RPG fans may still favor Blood of Dawnwalker—not least because it reportedly lets you kill any NPC. Pre-order bonuses have been renamed an “early adopter bonus” and will be available until September 25. September and October are crowded—what that means for November remains to be seen.
