Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand turns the RTS into a wave‑defense roguelite
Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand is coming later this month.
At the PC Gamer Show in June, Relic Entertainment revealed Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition to mark the series’ 20th anniversary. Today the studio announced Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, a separate wave‑defense game that drops players into escalating rounds of enemy attacks featuring powerful bosses and “dynamic battlefield events.”
Relic says Final Stand is “built on the beloved tactical foundation” of the RTS games but adds a roguelite progression system that “encourages experimentation, adaptation, and replayability.” Four factions, each with unique strategies, abilities, and progression paths, battle across five maps designed for wave‑defense play. Eight difficulty levels will cater to a wide range of challenges, and the game supports singleplayer and two‑player co‑op.
Though clearly based on Company of Heroes 3, Final Stand is pitched as a punchier, more immediate experience that throws players straight into the action. “Players can jump right in and experience the thrill of holding the line against overwhelming odds,” Relic said, adding that the game “captures the classic Company of Heroes feeling” of decisive command determining survival. Final Stand sounds to me more like a mode.
