Entropy: Zero’s new entry Progenitors casts you as a stealthy Combine assassin
Progenitors is the third game in the cult Half-Life 2 mod series Entropy: Zero. It swaps the usual Combine grunt for a stealth-focused assassin sent to hunt the rogue Progenitor behind the Combine soldiers.
The cult Half-Life 2 mod series Entropy: Zero is expanding again with Entropy: Zero 2 – Progenitors, and it’s leaning hard into stealth and immersive-sim vibes. Rather than playing a standard Combine trooper, Progenitors puts you in the role of a covert assassin—a black-ops figure who hunts a rogue “Progenitor,” the source from which Combine soldiers were first cloned or derived. The story is set sometime after the Seven Hour War and appears to nod toward Opposing Force-era material. The series has a history of blending Half-Life eras—Zero 2 took place in an Aperture facility and even paired you with a snarky turret—and Progenitors continues that visual and narrative homage. Developer Blixibon has shared clips of new weapons and mechanics on YouTube, and the project looks ambitiously close to an immersive sim or a shooter/imsim hybrid.
