Christopher Barrett, a longtime Bungie designer and director who worked on Halo, Destiny and Marathon, has settled his $200 million lawsuit against Sony and Bungie. Terms were not disclosed, but Barrett said the outcome is one he is "very satisfied with." Barrett left Bungie unexpectedly in 2024; reports said he was fired after complaints of inappropriate behavior with women at the studio. Barrett alleged his dismissal was actually meant to avoid paying him more than $45 million under his employment agreement and to "shift blame for and deflect attention from their massive business failures." Sony’s reply to the suit included written communications it said showed a pattern of misconduct — alleged drunk calls, requests to play "sexually charged games of 'Truth or Dare'," and comments such as "You want to be worshipped, I think?" Barrett’s lawyers countered that Sony cherry-picked text messages and "alleged conversations" to misrepresent those interactions.
