Would You Be Excited for a New Fallout From Obsidian?
Reader poll: Reports say Microsoft has tapped Josh Sawyer and Obsidian to lead a new Fallout RPG, but the move follows widespread Xbox layoffs and canceled projects — how does that sit with fans?
When Microsoft acquired Bethesda, our first thought was that it might be bad — and our next was that maybe Obsidian would get to make Fallout: New Vegas 2. After the Fallout TV show proved a hit, the lack of a new game felt odd. Now reports suggest Obsidian may actually be working on a new Fallout RPG, with Microsoft reportedly putting Josh Sawyer — the director of Fallout: New Vegas — at the helm as part of an “Xbox reset.” Bloomberg cautions the situation is still in flux and could change. If Obsidian and Sawyer do take it on, are you excited? There’s a poll below and the comments are open. I’m ambivalent: I like Obsidian and Sawyer, and a new Fallout sounds great, but this comes amid thousands of Xbox layoffs and reports that Obsidian canceled an Avowed sequel and other projects to make room for Fallout, which dampens my enthusiasm.
