The temple feature lets players build dungeons by linking rooms on a grid; intended for a new boss and exclusive loot, it was abused into a repeatable money‑making method. Players could lock a character, reset a level to expand the temple, and chain synergistic rooms in an “endless snake” so rooms wouldn’t delete after runs, guaranteeing huge loot drops. Co‑director Mark Roberts said having to push emergency fixes “ruined Christmas for me” and added, “We now—because of this bloody temple—have way more active stats for checking how many items are dropping in certain instances.” Moments later another developer showed him a report labeled “TEMPLE SHENANIGANS T1 ISSUE AFTER INTERVIEW,” revealing players were still exploiting it.
