Sonic’s Chaos Hunt ARG Includes AI‑training Clause in Terms of Service
Sega’s Chaos Hunt ARG, part of Sonic’s 35th anniversary, asks players to hunt missing Chaos Emeralds—but its terms of service require consent to AI model training and sharing data with third‑party AI vendors. Fans are advised to read the fine print before participating.
Sega’s new ARG Chaos Hunt, tied to Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary, invites fans to search for missing Chaos Emeralds ahead of the opening of Club Chaos. Social media user Luna Leo highlighted that the game’s terms of service require players to agree to AI model training and to share their details with third‑party AI vendors. The terms say "We use reasonable efforts to prohibit [third‑party] providers from using any of your personal information for the purposes of developing and improving their AI models," and state those providers must secure collected data. Sega released a video with Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka making an in‑universe announcement that Dr. Robotnik stole the Emeralds. Three grand‑prize winners will win a trip to New York City to attend Club Chaos; tickets go on sale August 28. Other listed prizes include statues, apparel, collectibles, signed artwork and game bundles. Additionally, Sega is teaming with iam8bit for the 35th anniversary.
