GTA 6 preorders go live while PC release remains absent
Preorders for Grand Theft Auto 6 are live, but PC players are once again left waiting — a decision that many at PC Gamer find frustrating given the platform's importance.
We’re excited about Grand Theft Auto 6 — Rockstar releases are rare industry events, often pushing tech and visuals. With preorders now live, many PC players hoped for a simultaneous PC launch, but the game will debut on consoles first. In 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Bloomberg, “Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core,” a comment that implies PC gamers aren’t the core audience. As PC Gamer’s Andy Chalk and several staff have noted, that feels unfair. Aside from giving developers extra time to optimize and fix launch-day bugs, it’s hard to see a clear advantage. PC gaming is a major market, and many of us feel sidelined — though some staff with consoles will cover the launch, others will be affected.
