Watch Dogs 2 is currently $2.50 on Steam. It's hardly a classic, but it's not terrible — at one cent per 10 minutes of content, how can you resist? It's only five mouse clicks away. During Steam's seasonal sales you can pick up dozens of games for under $5; Ted Litchfield found 31, many of which could occupy you for weeks. The urge to splurge is hard to resist, especially with Steam incentives to hoard: customizing your profile with Steam Points, collecting trading cards, or simply enjoying a growing library. Maybe you'll eventually play Dead Island 2 despite disliking zombies, first-person games, or LA settings; $5 feels like an investment. That logic might explain Gotham Knights appearing in my library even though I dislike Batman, superheroes, and grindy, icon-strewn open worlds. As Mashable reports, Korea now offers a cost-free way to get that purchase dopamine: FoodNeverComes simulates the shallow pleasure of an online transaction — you browse restaurants, pick from menus, press “purchase,” and watch a fake GPS delivery tracker — all without spending money.
